Reason for Pledging: During my freshman year in college, I discovered that GMU didn't have many options for minority women interested in being part of a sorority. The sororities that I found didn't offer what I was looking for. After meeting other ladies with similar experiences, we decided to start the Interest Group. I was a member of the Interest Group for 2 and 1/2 years. During this time, I was able to participate in educational events, community service, and social programs. Being part of the Interest Group was a great experience. I decided to join Lambda Theta Alpha for the emphasis that it put on academics, social programs, and the empowerment of women; and for the wonderful experiences that I had as an Interest.
